WES CRAVEN NEWS:

Variety: Wes Craven to Direct Horror Again

September 28, 2006 -- Variety reports that Wes Craven is finally going to direct a horror movie again, this time for Rogue Pictures. "Wes Craven has made a deal with Rogue Pictures to write and direct his first horror project in 12 years. He's also formed Midnight Pictures, a Rogue-based shingle that will scare up fright films with budgets under $15 million," Variety reported today.

Plans call for Craven and partner Marianne Maddalena to run Midnight Pictures and make films separately, with Maddalena developing her own slate. Craven reportedly made both deals after pitching the concept to Rogue's Andrew Rona, who was Dimension co-president and worked on many of Craven's films when Craven made films for the Weinsteins.

The new as-yet-untitled Craven-helmed film is a supernatural story with a 16-year old central character, reportedly more like "The Sixth Sense" than a slasher movie. Craven begans to begin shooting next Spring.
