Remakes, remakes, remakes. With "Friday the 13th" less than a week away, Platinum Dunes spoke to Fangoria about the next big film on the remake chopping block -- "A Nightmare on Elm Street." It begins shooting in three months.
He told them: "We’ve got the script, and in 12 weeks our goal is to be shooting in Chicago."
As Platinum Dunes remakes go, it will be more akin to their take on "Texas" than "Friday."
"It’s kind of what we did with 'Texas Chainsaw', bringing it back to the first one. It will definitely focus on the original film, unlike the new 'Friday the 13th', which [pulls] from a bunch of the movies."
No director has been chosen: "We’re looking for a really visual filmmaker who can make those dreams crazy. Someone really visual."
And no actor to be play Freddy. It sounds like we shouldn't expect Robert Englund, whom the producer says doesn't want the role. here are amazing actors out there who we would love to have in the role. I don’t think you want someone in the part where people can’t see Freddy. You have to have somebody who is so good that they can become Freddy, or someone nobody’s heard of who can really pull off that character.
