A Slew of Director Announcements

May 1, 2009 It's been a busy couple days for directors becoming attached to new projects, thankfully none of them remakes!

Tommy Wirkola, director of "Dead Snow," is now helming "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters," a new take on the story that has Hansel and Gretel as adult witch hunters. ...

David Slade, of "30 Days of Night" fame, has been announced as the director of "Cold Skin," about a young weather observer at the edge of the Antarctic Circle, who along with a deranged castaway, must battle a horde of humanoid killer amphibians that inhabit the island each night. The film was scripted by Jesus Olmo, who penned "28 Weeks Later," and is set to begin shooting in Iceland in March of next year. ...

Marcus Nispel, of the "Friday the 13th" remake, is set to direct "Last Voyage of Demeter," based on the chapter in Bram Stoker's "Dracula" where the vampire kills off everyone on a ship during his voyage to London.
