'Evil Dead' Heads Back to Theaters

December 1, 2009 Back in 1999, Grindhouse Releasing put out what was then the rarely seen Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond" in midnight screenings across the country. It was the first time that film had ever been seen uncut in the U.S. Now, 10 years later, Grindhouse is presenting the oft-seen "Evil Dead" in midnight screenings. Given the film's huge cult following -- which has inspired musical stage versions -- it sounds like a good financial decision.

Although it would have been nice if they had released something you can't rent on DVD. But oh well.

Here are release locations and dates, along with the poster (above):

January 8-9: Uptown Theatre, Minneapolis

January 15-16: Esquire Theatre, Denver

January 29-30: Sunshine Cinema, New York

February 5-6: Egyptian Theatre, Seattle

February 19-20: River Oaks Theatre, Houston

February 26-27: Inwood, Dallas

March 5: Nuart Theatre, Los Angeles

May 22: Hudson Horrorshow Poughkipsie, NY
