Roundup of Screamfest LA and Scream Award Winners - 'Caged' Wins for Best Picture   

October 21, 2010 Two "Scream"-themed awards ceremonies wrapped up this week: The Spike TV Scram Awards and Screamfest LA film festival -- and here's who won.

Screamfest LA wrapped up its 10th annual genre film fest on Sunday and here were the winners. ... "Black Death" was a big winner taking home four awards for Best Director (Chris Smith) , Best Actor (Sean Bean), Best Cinematography (Sebastian Edschmid) and Best Musical Score (Christian Henson). Best Picture went to the French film "Caged" (Captifs) as well as Best Actress (Zoe Felix) Filmmaker Jerome Sable won Best Horror Short for his short film "Legnd of Beaver Dam." Best Editing (Olivier Gajan) and Best Special Effects was award to the French film "The Pack" The Aussie flick, "Needle", took home an award for Best Makeup. "Controlled" by Craig Cambria won for Best Screenplay in Screamfest Horror Film Festival’s screenplay competition.

And here's the synposis: Somewhere in Eastern Europe. Carole is a young nurse with a humanitarian aid group that has reached the end of its mission. But just then, the young woman and her two colleagues are kidnapped by strangers for mysterious reasons. Held captive, cared for and kept alive in an oppressive and sinister setting, the three prisoners soon discover with horror what their kidnappers truly have in store for them...

Meanwhile, Spike's Scream Awards as usual looked at past theatrical releases (not future ones) and here's who won: "Zombieland" won for horror, "Inception" for sci-fi, "True Blood" for TV, James Cameron for director ("Avatar"), screenplay went to Laeta Kalogridis for "Shutter Island", horror actor went to Alexander Skarsgard for "True Blood", and horror actress to Anna Paquin for "True Blood". "The Human Centipede" won for Most Memorable Mutilation. And "True Blood" won for 'Holy Shit!' scene of the year for its 360-degre sex head twist.
