October 28, 2010 Rumors of Natalie Portman taking the role may have been greatly exaggerated. Now, Deadline says Noomi Rapace (who played the title character in the Swedish "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and is set for SSherlock Holmes 2") is Ridley Scott’s fave for the Ripley-esque female lead in the upcoming "Alien" prequel.



Other actresses being considered for the role include:

Carey Mulligan (“Wall Street 2”)
Abbie Cornish (“Bright Star”)
Natalie Portman (“Thor”)
Olivia Wilde (“Tron Legacy”)
