February 3, 2011 After bumming out the horror movie community with two "Halloween" films, Rob Zombie is about to return to making Rob Zombie movie with an original: "The Lords of Salem." The movie is no longer just an idea -- it starts filming this spring.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film is being produced by Haunted Movies banner, a partnership between Alliance Films and Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Steven Schneider (of "Paranormal Activity" fame).

Here's the basic premise:

The residents of modern day Salem are visited by a coven of 300-year-old witches!

Sounds intriguing. It will be great to have a true Rob Zombie horror film again. Of course there's no word on casting yet, but we can expect plenty of legendary actors from the '70s and '80s and plenty of vintage music.
