Tom Cruise to Play the Lead in 'Mountains of Madness'

February 4, 2011 News that Guillermo del Toro was finally directing H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness", with James Cameron producing, was some of the best we've received all year. I'm not sure how I feel about Tom Cruise starring.

Cruise's only horror film is "Interview with the Vampire," which is one of the best of the 1990s. But it might be a distraction to see him in a film like this.

Cameron let MTV know that Cruise would "likely" star. It would be better to have someone with a little less celebrity baggage.

Presumably, Cruise will play the role of geologist William Dyer from the novel.
