Tobe Hooper to Direct 'Djinn'

February 28, 2011 The concept of a "Djinn" was exploited in the now defunct "Wishmaster" franchise. It's about to be resurrected by original "Texas Chainsaw" director Tobe Hooper.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Hooper is about to direct "Djinn," from a script by David Tully. The movie is about an American family moving to the United Arab Emirates, who learn that the high-rise they've moved into is haunted by the evil Djinn of Arabic folklore.

Of course, Hooper has a mixed history, from the classic ("Texas Chainsaw") to the cheesy ("Lifeforce") to the awful ("Crocodile"). His last film was the less-than-interesting Mortuary."
