Lineup Announced for Drive-in Super Monster Rama

May 24, 2012 Taking place Sept. 7 and 8, the ultimate drive-in horror film festival, Drive-in Super Monster Rama has been taking place annually at the Riverside Drive-In in Vandergrift, PA. It's every vintage horror fans' ultimate dream film fest -- and this year is no exception.

On Sept. 7, 35mm prints of "Theatre of Blood", Horror House, "Equinox" and "Son of Blob" will screen on the big drive-in screen.

The next day, fans will get the chance to see "Twins of Evil", "Countess Dracula", "Raw Meat", and "Psychomania" as they were meant to be seen -- in a drive-in theater!

Again, these are all 35mm prints. So if you live anywhere near Vandergrift, PA, cancel all your plans on Sept. 7 and 8 and be sure to get out there. Here are the full details:

Now in our 6th Annual Year! The ultimate trip back in time to the grand old days of drive-in cinema is back! DRIVE-IN SUPER MONSTER-RAMA is two nights of classic horror and science fiction 35mm screenings (including many new prints -- and several in Technicolor -- all uncut) presented at an authentic, hospitable drive-in movie theater. There will be two big shows on two consecutive nights which will start at dusk and go on until really late into the night! This is the sixth year in a row that we are hosting such an event, so we encourage drive-in movie fanatics from all parts of the country to come out and experience something you'll never forget! What could be better than a weekend getaway topped off with two nights of classic monster movies on the big outdoor screen?

We realize that everything is so expensive these days, but admission is (still) only $10 a person each night! Plus, children 12 and under are free with parent or adult guardian (parental guidance is of course recommended, but this is in case you want to put the little tykes to sleep in the backseat instead of hiring a babysitter). How can you beat that? The Riverside's concession stand is loaded with reasonably priced goodies that patrons continue to rave about, including hot foods, hot and cold drinks, candy, popcorn and much, much more! Their concession stand always gets compliments, and it's one of the things that keeps fans of this event wanting to come back for more year after year.

We guarantee that this will most likely be your only chance to see so many of these type of films on the drive-in screen all in one big weekend, so plan your vacation now! You won't be sorry! Where else are you going to see the likes of Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasence, Christopher Lee and even Frankie Avalon all at a real drive-in theater -- a perfect mix of gothic and schlock horror from yesteryear -- all in one weekend? Nowhere else, that's where!

With the industry forcing many theaters to go digital, the end of 35mm screenings at drive-in theaters is surely upon us, so this could very well be one of your last chances to experience such a unique event like this with all the bells and whistles! If you've said stuff like, "this sounds great, too bad it's not my local drive-in" or "I would love to go, too bad I have to attend to my cousin Ernie's wedding" in the past, now's the time to finally make the effort and take the trip back in time, or to Vandergrift, PA actually!

What is being shown and when?

On Friday, September 7, the features will be THEATRE OF BLOOD, HORROR HOUSE (restored version), EQUINOX and SON OF BLOB.

On Saturday, September 8, the features will be TWINS OF EVIL (uncut British version), COUNTESS DRACULA (uncut British version), RAW MEAT and PSYCHOMANIA (THE DEATH WHEELERS).

Each night we will also present an array of vintage exploitation and monster movies trailers in between the features which we know you will just love! We'll also have cartoons, classic concession stand adverts, and a few surprise short comedy subjects!

Where is the theater?

DRIVE-IN SUPER MONSTER-RAMA will be held at the Riverside Drive-In Theatre in Vandergrift, PA. For the dates of September 7 and 8, the theater will devote its screen exclusively to these special nights of vintage entertainment.
