Released in 1981, "Evil Dead" would of course spawn two sequels, the careers of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi, and spawn one remake. In addition to being a good cult movie, "Donnie Darko" is related to "Evil Dead" simpy by the fact that it's the movie the main characters go to see in a theater.
