If you happen to be in LA next month and want to catch an early screening of '30 Days of Night',' this is your chance.
In advance of the nationwide release of 30 Days of Night, Columbia Pictures’/Ghost House Pictures’ highly anticipated vampire horror-thriller, the film will have a special screening at the annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on October 16, it was jointly announced today by Rachel Belofsky, founder of the festival, and 30 Days of Night producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The film will be released in theaters everywhere on October 19, 2007.
The special screening will be attended by the film’s stars, Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, and Ben Foster. Producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, director David Slade, and Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, authors of the graphic novel on which the film is based, will also attend. (Niles also contributed to the screenplay.)
“We are extremely excited to present this special screening of David Slade’s film 30 Days of Night,” said Belofsky. “Horror fans looking for a new take on the vampire legend are going to love it.”
30 Days of Night marks Steve Niles’ return to Screamfest; last year, the festival opened with David Arquette’s The Tripper, which Niles executive produced.
The 7th annual festival will be held October 12th -21st at the Mann Chinese Theaters in Hollywood, California.
For 30 days every winter, the isolated town of Barrow, Alaska is plunged into a state of complete darkness. It's a bitter time when most of the inhabitants head south. This winter, a mysterious group of strangers appear: bloodthirsty vampires, ready to take advantage of the uninterrupted darkness to feed on the residents remaining in this small, isolated town. Barrow's Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his estranged wife, Stella (Melissa George), and an ever-shrinking group of survivors must do anything and everything they can to last until daylight in Columbia Pictures’ 30 Days of Night.
