Hammer Gets Its Own UK Stamp Line

April 28, 2008 In the UK, June 10 will see the release of Hammer horror-related stamps. The U.S. honored Elvis and Star Wars with their own stamps -- now the UK is doing the same thing for Chris Lee and Peter Cushing.

The stamps are being released alongside stamps for a UK film series called "Carry On." We've got stamps specifically for "Dracula" ("Horror of Dracula". in the USA), "The Mummy" and "Curse of Frankenstein," all mega classics released in 1958. In other words, it's their 50th anniversary.
By the way, if you haven't seen these three films you absolutely owe it to yourself to rent them -- particularly "Horror of Dracula." Even if you're a teenager, you'll at least appreciate it as being infinitely superior to a lot of the dreck being produced today. And understand why Christopher Lee is an icon.
