Zack Synder Not Directing 'Army of the Dead'

June 5, 2008 "Army of the Dead" has been in development since Zack Snyder's "Dawn of the Dead" remake hit it big at the box office. Now that he's helmed "300," it looks like Zack may be too busy for the zombie epic.

Snyder is at least co-producing the film for Warner Bros.

Variety reports that Matthijs van Heijningen is taking over as director of the project. At least the film is still alive. Heijningen is a commercial director. It should be noted that Snyder hadn't directed much prior to "Dawn of the Dead" either.
